New Website Launched - NationwideOfficeSupply.com Office Supplies ...

Holbrook, MA (PRWEB) April 20, 2007 -- US Markerboard is proud to announce the launch of its new website NationwideOfficeSupply.com. Promising to offer "Everyday True Prices" (ETP). NationwideOfficeSupply.com is built on the largest distribution channel in America, with 30 warehouses and over 35,000 products.

NationwideOfficeSupply.com was designed to offer everyone the same great competitive prices as that of larger contract clients. "These are the same terrific products you get from the box stores, but at substantial savings," says Scott Newman, CEO/President of US Markerboard. "It is our theory that customers enjoy shopping on-line and are reassured when they can save money and also know there is someone on the other end of the phone line when they need help."

The idea came to Scott Newman, when his own office staff tried to order standard everyday office supplies online.

Papers leery of online deals Old-style media can't see how Google ...

When asked why the newspaper industry is so nervous -- some say paranoid -- about Yahoo and Google, Tom Curley, the chief executive of The Associated Press, is quick with a reason.

Just last week, he said, he had minor clashes with both Yahoo Inc. and Google Inc. over how they have been using his news stories.

In one of those incidents, AP noticed that its sports "content" was showing up on mobile devices through a channel AP hadn't been made aware of.

When confronted, executives at Yahoo or Google -- Curley wouldn't say which -- explained that they hadn't mentioned the distribution deal because it wasn't necessarily long-term, and it wasn't even clear if it would work.

AP demanded, and got, "a little extra payment" for the extra usage of its content, Curley said.

How to launch your business online

Launching a business of any kind isn't easy. No matter how small the business, you still need a legal structure, such as a corporation, LLC, partnership or sole proprietorship. You also need computers, phones and Web connections; financial, budgeting and marketing skills; a bank account; merchant services to process credit card payments; and much more.

If you want to start small, build it yourself and grow the business over time, using Web-based services to launch your business is a viable choice that scores of entrepreneurs are selecting.

Service providers such as Interland, Yahoo! Small Business, Big Step, 1&1 and others offer simplified do-it-yourself packages that make the setup process straightforward. Even with little technical know-how, you can quickly get a basic Web site registered, designed and online for as little as $20 a month.

Internet Gun Store Sold Weapon To VT Killer

The owner of a Wisconsin gun store that sells its weapons over the Internet says he plans to stay in business even though the store sold one of the two weapons used in the Virginia Tech massacre.

Eric Thompson of Gun Source-dot-com tells The Associated Press he sold the .22-caliber gun used by Cho Seung-Hui in Monday's shootings, which left 32 people and Cho dead.

Thompson says Cho bought the gun online February Second and it was in his hands a week later. The dealer says selling a gun used in such a crime is possibly his worst nightmare, adding his heart goes out to the families of the victims.

Competitors force Blue Ridge Outdoors to take hike

Campers buying tents in the 1970s likely had a different shopping experience than those looking for them today.

Before the Internet and massive discount retailers, locally owned outdoors stores had the edge as prime places to buy hiking, camping and other outdoor supplies.

Today, bargains on outdoor gear abound online, from Internet retailers' Web sites to online auction business eBay. And a local outdoors retailer says it has fallen under the pressure of competing with this low-price-hunting game.

Blue Ridge Outdoors, founded in 1977, closed its Roanoke and Blacksburg stores this week. The stores at Valley View Mall in Roanoke and on North Main Street in downtown Blacksburg sold apparel, shoes and equipment for hikers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Wal-Mart's online survey: interesting stuff

On a weekly research visit to a local Wal-Mart store this past week, a small purchase produced a receipt with an interesting addition -- an opinion survey that could be performed online. Generally, these surveys are a waste from most retailers. A customer is required to fill in all kinds of personal information with the slight chance of winning a free stuffed toy while providing the retailer all kinds of marketing information that should be worth way more than a "chance" at winning something insignificant. But Wal-Mart's was different: a chance to win a $1,000 gift card to one if its stores. Now, I'm quite sure Wal-Mart can be a little more generous that five of these cards for receiving probably millions in customer research value through survey responses, but the concept still resonates with the average Wal-Mart shopper most likely.I found it interesting that the receipt also printed out these items to be used within the survey: Store number, ID (probably a unique customer number) and a password.
