| Desperate for celebrity style?
With Americans' endless fascination with Hollywood celebrities, it's no wonder shoppers now have the chance to dress like their favorite TV stars. Several Web sites cater to helping viewers feel like they can have it all, too, by wearing the same garments they've seen their favorite characters wear on TV. And what retailer wouldn't want to get in on the style buzz certain shows create, selling outfits right off TV stars' backs? It's like the ultimate concept in product placement. I admit I'm addicted to Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters and Grey's Anatomy. But would I dare to try to dress like any of the Desperate hotties? Certainly not Edie (Nicollette Sheridan), but why not Bree? On www.SeenOn.com, I found Bree clothing (worn by actress Marcia Cross) ranging from the classically demure to kitchen sink chic.

Dr Pepper Goes Punk
(April 23, 2007)--Most Americans over 40 can probably recall a commercial jingle from the late 1970s that told them, "Be a Pepper, drink Doctor Pepper." Now, the Plano-based maker of Dr Pepper is again turning to music to help sell soda, but in a way that shows how both music and advertising have changed in a generation. Dr Pepper is paying to have a pop-punk band live and work in a transparent bubble on New York's touristy Pier 54 for 20 days. Cameras will record the members of the band Cartel as they write and record a new CD. The bubble will be loaded with cameras so fans can watch the band online around the clock. Plans also call for MTV to produce four half-hour shows, although network officials won't be pinned down on which of its channels will air the episodes.

That's what Intellifit in Horsham is hoping Philadelphia International Airport travelers will say when they see the company's Virtual Fitting Room in airline terminals. The Virtual Fitting Room looks like a space-age capsule. A person stands, fully clothed, in the middle as he or she is scanned and more than 200 measurements are recorded. The machine then gives a personalized FitPrint, with sizes for brand-name clothing from Nordstrom, Levi's, Lands' End, the Gap, Nautica, Dockers and Jos. A. Bank. The service is free, but customers are encouraged to shop for clothes through www.intellifit.com. The company provides a log-in so people can shop from any computer in the world.
