House appropriation bills debated Tuesday
While the agriculture and veterans package passed relatively quickly, the environment and energy bill heard a myriad of amendments by both Democrats and Republicans, who aired out issues such as minnow farming and nuclear waste casks in Monticello. Both bills include Range sponsored provisions, including studies of two new energy proposals, timber contract down payment refunds, and wetland studies for counties with 80 percent or more of pre-settlement wetlands. The omnibus agriculture, rural economies and veterans affairs finance bill is a squeaky $700,000 more than the governors budget, and the least controversial bill, according to both bill sponsor Rep. Al Juhnke, DFL-Willmar, and Rep. Marty Seifert, R-Marshall. This bill at this time does not pick winners and losers, said Juhnke.

Many job hunters make easy targets
Springtime means that high school and college graduations are drawing near, leading more young people to look for summer jobs and other employment opportunities. The Better Business Bureau of North Alabama warns job seekers to beware of misleading online job postings and employment arrangements aimed at stealing money and identities. The BBB said it has had calls regarding employment scams. Online employment scams generally target the increasing number of people wanting to work from home, but also affect those looking for second jobs, and young people looking for part-time employment. Through posting rsums online and replying to advertised positions, victims report scams in fields such as mystery shopping, exporting/importing, bookkeeping, journalism, engineering, "government" agencies and security.
Interview: Sam “The Man” Raimi on Spidey, Evil Dead, The Hobbit ...
You got to give it to Sam Raimi, who wouldve believed that the man who brought us Ash, S-Mart and boomsticks would deliver one of the greatest trilogies ever made. I wouldve loved to have been a fly on the wall the day that Raimi went in for a pitch meeting for Spider-Man. As much as I love the Brothers Raimi, I would have never believed that they could deliver the Spider-Man Trilogy that we have witnessed. Could there ever be a geekier set of Brothers? Of course, I call them geeks in the most respectful way possible. So whats going on in the future with Evil Dead, Spider-Man, 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Hobbit? Let me go on record, Spider-Man 3 needs to be the last film of this franchise that Sam directs. Not that I dont want to see the Spidey franchise continue, but Sam has so much talent as a director that other franchises could be born with Raimi at the helm.
Online home shopping has gotten easier
And it is changing the way we buy and sell homes. If you're considering a move, you'll find a wealth of resources online. Compare home values. If you're considering selling your house, start by finding its value. Sites like Zillow (zillow.com), Trulia (trulia.com) and Domania domania.com) can help. Price trends let you see how the market has changed over the past few months or years. The sites also compare your home to sales of similar houses in the area. These numbers are a good starting point, but consult an agent to determine the current market condition and optimum asking price. Home values are helpful when choosing a new neighborhood. These sites show the average home value by neighborhood or ZIP code, which helps you to focus your search in areas in your price range.
A Shopaholic Speaks

K. Bennett shoes; and a zebra Jimmy Choo bag. Kinsella, 37, who lives in London with her Latin teacher husband, is one of the leading lights in the chick-lit world.
